Motorcycle valve adjustment cost. I would expect with any extra service or hidden fees and a conservative guess to pay around 800 for a valve adjustment job. Discussion Starter 26 Jan 8 2011. To get to the valve cover on this bike the fairing panels and tank need to come off as well as the carbs.
At current shop rates of 100 it will not be cheap. People need to stop telling other people they dont need to get their valves checked just because theirs were still in spec at 25k or 30k miles. Shim adjustments only add more.
The check cost me 50 all-in for new cam cover gaskets seals and a feeler. They say its because the 650 has cam over bucket valves and to check them and adj them you have to pull the cams. The valve will open on the intake stroke and close on the compression stroke.

The valves on one bike might need to be adjusted at 15000 and not until 20000 on another. Out of curiosity I asked about pricing and the mechanic said between 400-500 to check and 600-700 if adjustments are needed with room to climb if theyre ALL out of spec or if other issues arise. The average cost is around 300 but this varies greatly depending on the style of bike.
