This will lead to the battery being completely dead. I figured it out after removing the cover and realizing the starter was working backwards is the best way I could describe it. If its there plug it in and feel if its clicking when a helper turns on the ignition switch.
Check the rectifierregulator - it is a direct connection between the battery and ground - hook the battery up backwards and either they will burn out like a fuse or they will let current flow through the alternator damaging the coils -.
