To clean some folks swear by kerosene some WD-40. After using the spray its easier to clean the chain using the right chain cleaning tools. While rotating the wheel and chain spray the chain with kerosene or wheel cleaner.

Australia 05 CB1300F 6 years ago. As you work your way around the chain dont be shy about really soaking things down. Once the chain is relatively clean I use a small air compressor 2 gallon to blow dry the chain.

This spray is safe for all chains including O-ring X-ring and Z-ring. Kerosene is good if youve used a chain lube that is very sticky. Takes a little longer but the outcome is better.

10 Jun 8 2008. You can use the towel to clean that section and proceed to the next section of chain. When I clean my chain I soak the chain in WD40 or kerosene.
